Considered one of the fore-runners of spring, forsythia is an old-fashioned shrub known for it's golden yellow flowers. Cut branches can also be forced indoors during winter.

Gold Tide Dwarf Forsythia

Requirements: Full sun to part shade, rich well-drained soil. 
 
Size: 1-4 ft W x 1-2 ft H
 
Zones: Hardy to zone 5. 
 
Bloom-time: Early Spring 
 
Description: Good tolerance for urban conditions, one of the first forsythias to bloom in late winter-early spring. Green foliage through the summer.

New Hampshire Gold Forsythia

Requirements: Full sun, well drained soil.
 
Size: 2 m W x 2 m H
 
Zones: Hardy to zone 4. 
 
Bloom-time: Spring
 
Description: Covered from the top to bottom in golden blooms. Prune aggressively after flowering. Pruple red fall colour. Cut stems can be forced in winter. 

Show-Off Forsythia

Requirements: Full sun, well drained soil.
 
Size: 1.5 m W x 1.5 m H
 
Zones: Hardy to zone 5.
 
Bloom-time: Early Spring
